Day One: Learning the UI and Movement Sorta

by | Aug 18, 2020 | 30 Days of Gaming, GameDev | 0 comments

I’ve set off on an adventure to learn how to create and develop video games! Apart of my journey, I’m personally challenging myself to write a blog post every day for 30 days to track my project and reflect on my progress. Don’t consider this a tutorial, or even anything entertaining merely a developer sulking in his own despair pulling his hair out learning the how-to world of Game Development works! If you are into watching other people blog their progress with a sarcastic sense of humor suffering through progress stay tuned for part II!

So far the game I plan to make has no direction so I guess I’ll make an asteroids clone until something sticks.

Learning The UI

In quick order here is what I learned today.

  • UI layout and how to run my fricken game.
  • How to color a cube.
  • How to make an object move.

I made a cube spawn at the origin (0,0,0) and move right slowwwwwwwwwly.

So far Unity is a great framework to make video games. And in another day or two I think my game will be ready for Steam Greenlight.
